That the 100 metres final on Saturday night was won by Justin Gatlin shows the state world athletics is currently in. Athletes who test positive for banned substances should receive a lifetime ban and I think the race did a lot of damage to athletics’ tarnished image.

With Bolt no longer competing, I think they should give him an ambassadorial role for his incredible service to the sport over the past 10 years.

How ironic it was to be present at the the IAAF World Championships and to witness the re-allocation of medals on the basis that previous “winners” had been found to have been drugs cheats, only to later on witness Justin Gatlin, who has twice been convicted of doping, win the 100 metres gold medal.
